New Hope Lutheran Church in Sudbury, Ontario, is seeking a new pastor to lead and serve our diverse and bilingual congregation. As part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC), we operate in both Finnish and English, ministering to an aging Finnish-heritage membership as well as a growing English-speaking community. The Finnish Seamen’s Church is partnering with us in Finland to assist with recruitment.
Job Description
As pastor, your responsibilities will include:
• Leading worship services in both Finnish and English.
• Providing pastoral care, including home visits and counseling.
• Collaborating with Finlandia Village, including six hours of weekly chaplaincy services.
• Developing innovative and inclusive programs to engage young families and youth.
Qualifications
• Ordination as a pastor in the Lutheran Church.
• Fluency in Finnish and English.
• Ability to address the unique needs of an aging congregation while fostering growth and engaging young families.
• A valid driver’s license and readiness to acquire a vehicle for pastoral visits.
• Experience working in multicultural and bilingual environments is considered an asset.
